Brilliant!
Now why didn't someone think of this before? Have the leader of some nation visit Iraq and call for an end to the violence. Clearly this will work! Even as I type this, I imagine people all over Iraq are thinking "Mr. Blair wants us to stop fighting each other, so I'm going to take all my weapons and hand them over at the local police station. Then I'm going over to my neighbor's house, the one I lobbed a bomb at yesterday, and I'm going to give him a bunch of fresh flowers. Then all will be well in Iraq! Gosh, I hope my neighbor doesn't have allergies..." It's just so obvious!

Oh that's right he did.....Prime Minister of Britain!!!!!!
I would like to see aspiring politicians have to take a common sense exam. Only those that passed would be eligible to run for office. My prediction is that whichever country adopts such an approach would become the most desirable place to live with the highest standard of living in the world within a decade. Even if it's currently the smallest and/or most impoverished country on the planet.
